FORMER CENTERFIELDER GARRY MADDOX HITS ONE OUT OF THE PARK WITH STEPHEN STARR AND HATFIELD QUALITY MEATS

Former Phillies centerfielder Garry Maddox understands the importance of fielding a strong team. With the announcement of Hatfield Quality Meats as the presenting sponsor for Garry's ninth charity Barbecue Challenge, and with the return of Stephen Starr as the event's co-host, Maddox believes he has an all-star lineup.

"It is phenomenal to have Hatfield Quality Meats and STARR Restaurants as partners on the Barbecue Challenge," says Maddox. "These are organizations with a deep commitment to excellence in everything that they do, including their charitable work in our community."

"At Hatfield, we believe we have been blessed with many resources, and we are committed to giving much back to enrich the communities in which we operate and the neighborhoods where we live. It is an honor to be a part of the Stephen Starr - Garry Maddox Barbecue Challenge. We are always thrilled to partner with the Phillies and Garry Maddox for a great cause. Hatfield Quality Meats is a proud supporter of the Youth Golf & Academics Program because of its mission to expand children's horizons through new experiences and challenges because we too are committed to creating a stable, safe foundation for future generations," Bob Ruth, Senior Vice President of Customer Solutions.

This year's Stephen Starr-Garry Maddox Barbecue Challenge, presented by Hatfield Quality Meats, takes place on Saturday, August 7 when restaurant teams and pit master teams converge on Citizens Bank Park to compete for bragging rights to the region's best barbecue. All proceeds from the event benefit the Youth Golf & Academics Program (YGAP), an academic enrichment program founded by Garry Maddox to support children who reside in troubled city neighborhoods. Since its inception, the Barbecue Challenge has raised over $400,000 for Garry's charity.

"We are thrilled to partner with Garry Maddox for the ninth annual barbecue challenge," says Stephen Starr. "STARR Restaurants fully believes in the mission of the Youth Golf & Academics Program and the importance of educational and developmental programs for our city's youth. With an outstanding roster of chefs competing, we know this year's event will be even more exciting and help raise additional funds for the enrichment and support of our children."

Stephen Starr is owner of STARR Restaurants, one of the fastest growing multi-concept restaurant companies in the country. The highly acclaimed restaurateur is known for his unique, trend-setting establishments and boasts 14 restaurants in Philadelphia, two in Atlantic City, two in New York City, and Steak 954 in Ft.
